MDFR hosts 29th annual Children's Fire Safety Festival


(MIAMI, Oct. 13, 2014) – Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department (MDFR) will host the 29th Annual Children’s Fire Safety Festival as part of National Fire Prevention Month Tuesday, Oct. 14, to Oct. 17, 2014, at 9 a.m., at the MDFR Training Facility located at 9300 NW 41 ST in Doral.

The weeklong event will give 1,600 kindergarten through third grade students from public and private schools in Miami-Dade County the opportunity to “LEARN NOT TO BURN” through interactive learning stations. The stations are sponsored and presented by fire and life safety educators from MDFR, Miami Beach Fire Department, City of Miami Fire Department, Coral Gables Fire Department, Hialeah Fire Department, Key Biscayne Fire Department, Homestead Air Reserve Base Fire Department and the UM/JM Burn Center.

Lifesaving activities and topics will include Stop, Drop and Roll, Home Fire Drill Planning and Practice, the Importance of Smoke Alarms, Matches and Lighter Safety and Accessing the 9-1-1 Emergency System.
